Hellooooo Poutlings

If you know me or have been following me via twitter, facebook or any other form of social networking,

you’ll know that I am very much against animal cruelty as is the Lovely MissFitz and SandyLash.

Over the past few days doing my general networking on facebook surrounding animals in need I’ve had a few people ask me how would they know if the products they use are animal cruelty free.

First off, please know the difference between animal cruelty and animal testing.

Animal Cruelty:

Cruelty to animals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense or survival. More narrowly, it can be harm for specific gain, such as killing animals for food or for their fur, although opinions differ with respect to the method of slaughter. It usually encompasses inflicting harm for personal amusement or to fulfill zoosadistic impulses. Diverging viewpoints are held by jurisdictions throughout the world.”

Animal Testing:

Animal Testing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“The terms animal testing, animal experimentation, animal research, in vivo testing, and vivisection have similar denotations but different connotations. Literally, “vivisection” means the “cutting up” of a living animal, and historically referred only to experiments that involved the dissection of live animals. The term is occasionally used to refer pejoratively to any experiment using living animals; for example, the Encyclopædia Britannica defines “vivisection” as: “Operation on a living animal for experimental rather than healing purposes; more broadly, all experimentation on live animals”,[11][17][18] although dictionaries point out that the broader definition is “used only by people who are opposed to such work”.[19] The word has a negative connotation, implying torture, suffering, and death.[4] The word “vivisection” is preferred by those opposed to this research, whereas scientists typically use the term “animal experimentation”.[20][21]

With that out of the way I know a great deal of us love our animal but we aren’t to clued up about the products we use and end up having a whole range of animal cruelty products taking up the space in our cupboards.
Although i am not the biggest PETA fan around they are among some of the sites that have lists of products not just cosmetics but also your general day to day household item that are animal cruelty free and of course those that are not.
I know some of you have heard it yet still find it hard to believe but it is in fact true, Yes MAC cosmetics are not animal cruelty free, they have up their animal cruelty free status to be able to sell their products in China, Unfortunately animal testing is a requirement to be able to sell in China, but have no fear the EU has banned animal testing on all cosmetic’s so hopefully soon China will regain contentiousness of what they are doing and follow in the EU’s foot steps *Keeps fingers crossed*
